To me, although yes I am a little biased, giving a second-hand, upcycled, or small business-curated gift is non-traditional and noteworthy.
The best feeling in the world is coming across something that can either tug at your heart's strings, spike nostalgia, make you stop in your tracks, or do all 3.
And receiving that as a giftee says “I saw this and instantly thought of you!”
