Medium, although one of those places that provide a free place for you to post your content to millions of active users, has made it a tiny bit more difficult to earn money (right away).
I say tiny because compared to a lot of other monetizable content platforms (like YouTube, eyeroll) the requirements are extremely modest.
Just 100 followers and BOOM, you’re able to monetize your articles.
But although seemingly easy, getting your first 100 followers (especially if you’re brand new to Medium) can be a tough feat.
But don’t let it discourage you!
In fact, let it excite you to get there faster.
After all, the more followers, the more reads, more engagement possibilities, oh and … I feel like I’m missing something…

It’s true that in the past it was possible to receive a great monthly payout with fewer than 100 followers, but that is now a way of the past.
In order to stay in the Medium Partner Program, I had to get 100 followers. So I got to work and was shocked when I went from 2 to 102 in under an hour.
