5 Simple Kitchen Hacks That Have Made Me a Better Cook

There’s no doubt that the pandemic has sparked a lot more of us to cook at home, either out of necessity or sheer boredom.

My cooking journey started when I bought my house but didn’t really pick up any momentum until I became a parent. Up until then, it felt like I was cooking just to eat. I found no joy in it, in fact, it fell right in line with the chores I hated doing like laundry and cleaning the bathroom.

It’s funny how things can change when you’re not only responsible for feeding yourself anymore.

I realized that I don’t want my kids to grow up eating the same ol’ boring dinners I remember having to endure as a kid.

So I headed to the best place I know of to expand upon my culinary journey as an amateur home chef, YouTube, of course.

And y’all, there’s been so much I’ve been doing wrong!

I don’t want to call my parents bad cooks or anything but I learnt really quickly that a lot of the tips and tricks I actually had picked up from being in the kitchen with them, weren’t actually the correct or best ways to do things.

One quick note on why I prefer YouTube cooking shows over watching celebrity chefs and/or The Food Network;
